Oke, here's my problem: I added all the code like the compass file said, but after i do make clean, and make. and i shutdown my mud, and do a startup, it doesnt work, well, i dont see a compass in look. At first i thought it just didnt compile the files right, so i decided to change the mud name and see if it changed in the mud and it did. I think my problem lies in the compiling. Because i am getting these messages: gcc -c -O -g3 -Wall -Wuninitialized -DSMAUG deity.c
and so on, but not an error. So it compiles ok, and i changed the who 1 thing to who, and that worked fine, but why does the compass snippet not work?

thx in advance,
Dasickone

EDIT:I use the newest smaug(official, not FUSS) for linux

Isn't it a config option? *chin*

config option? (I'm using smaug1.4 for linux). I wonder if those messages have anything 2 do with the fact that the compass snippet isnt working.

Config, as in you need to type:

config +compass

If there had been an error, you would have seen it. BTW, I'd advise against using the official Smaug release. It's a pile of bugware, hence the need for FUSS.

Another question: how can i force every player to use config +compass, or to make it default, so it's turned on by default, and they can stop using it if they wish

Two ways.

One - You could find all the places where the flag is checked and reverse it. Then name the flag NOCOMPASS.

Two - Find where the NSTART flag is set and add similar code. Should be somewhere in nanny(), comm.c

Or you could just look for where the autoloot and autogold flags are preset on newbies as they're created.
