I'm having trouble installing Smaugfuss 1.9 on an Ubuntu 12.4 using g++ 4.6.3. Plz help.

You have 2 simple choices. :)

1. Go through and delete the found variable from those 3 locations.
2. Go through and somehow use the found variable from those 3 locations.

Either way, the bool is pointless--it doesn't do anything nor does it reference anything. Looks like it might have been planned for something, but was never implemented. I would personally go with the removal option.
