Is there a way to use SmaugFUSS with Unicode?

I try to translate the FUSS package into german, but the mutated vowels of the language (äöüß) aren't recognised by the codebase. I have to write ae oe ue and ss instead, which looks ugly in descriptions.
Any workarounds?

My german is probably horrendous, but I gave it a shot. For those that don't speak german, or if my german is just way off:

You'll have to update the text parser to not strip out extended characters like those. There's a post somewhere around here that demonstrates a cheap workaround for the problem, but I don't recommend using it as there are better ways to do it, but it works.

Will have a look at this, thanks.

...and I understood your german, although it's crude :)

Yeah, I'm only just learning German, I'm honestly surprised it was readable at all. :P
