For some reason that I'm not sure of all the downloads seem corrupt. They do fine when being uploaded and approved, but as soon as they are approved they become corrupt when someone downloads them. I'm not sure how to fix it so we will have to wait till someone with the knowledge to fix it gets a chance to take care of it :)

I checked the downloads in IE and they seem to work fine, It must just be when downloading in Mozilla (3.6.2) after it was approved.

Corrupted in what way? I just downloaded a couple of things using Firefox 3.6.2 and had no trouble opening them.

Not sure but Vladaar informed me of it and when I tried it was also. I just tried again with the last AFK release and 1.38r2 of LoP again and it will try to open it say it is corrupt and the only thing it shows for it is ../ in the file. That is doing the open with winrar way. I also tried downloading it and then opening it and it gave the same issue. Even tried to use tar to untar them and it said it was corrupt and couldn't continue. I'll look and see if there is a new update for firefox but I think I just got the latest one the other day. As I said though works fine in IE lol.

Works for me in Chrome+7zip.

No wait, hmm. It doesn't say corrupt but it's only extracting a single file called LOP1.38r2

Yeah, WinRAR says it's corrupt.
! C:\Users\Zeno\Documents\Downloads\LOP1.38r2.tgz: The archive is corrupt

I think the file was tarred wrong.

They download corrupt with Firefox 3.5.8, but when downloading them to my VPS and then downloading them from there, they work fine.

I downloaded the LoP file just fine. It had an odd internal folder name, but if I double-clicked through enough stuff in 7zip it eventually got to the actual files and folders, all of which extracted without errors.

I just tested with LOP1.38r2, afkmud214, swfote14fuss, swr13fuss and smaugfuss1.9 and all gave the "the archive is corrupt" error when opening with winrar. I tested further for some zipped up snippets (newsmaugweather, afkboards) and they extract just fine.

(Firefox 3.0.7, winrar 3.51)

That strongly suggests winrar isn't handling the tgz files correctly then, because the FUSS files and AFKMud have all been packaged using the tar/gz off of the server here, and 7zip has no trouble unpacking them.

Well I thought of that and tried unpacking it using tar/gz in cygwin when it told me it was corrupt when downloaded with firefox and it also told me that it was corrupt. Now when it was in the waiting for approval part I was able to download and view it using winrar just fine but at the point it got accepted I tried it again and it said it was corrupt. So then I tried in IE and winrar and it went just fine. Seems to just be some odd thing going on with it lol, but at least IE handles it just fine.

What extension does it end up being downloaded as?

I saw some weirdness a while ago where a download would show up as .tar even though it was meant to be a .tgz or something like that.

wget+tar worked just fine with the LOP (tgz), so it must be tarred just fine. Not sure what's up.

yea it is a .tgz file and still showing corrupt :( I know it was tarred right just gets crazy in the downloading in mozilla for some reason lol, later I'll get one from mozilla and one from IE and compare them to see whats different and might be causing the issue lol.

Could it be your browser cache? Maybe you have a half-finished download that got cached.

Maybe we should have md5 sums or something to verify that what Remcon got is what the server thinks he was supposed to get...

Doubt it's cache considering it failed for me in Chrome too, and I had never DLed it before.

Yea the problem isn't from wget it is just one from Mozilla

Ok, used md5sum on 3 files, one is the original copy I have that I used to upload it here, one is downloaded in IE and one is downloaded in Mozilla and here are the results.

Original:
d3b130e02b7bcff112aa3032b731af9f

IE:
d3b130e02b7bcff112aa3032b731af9f

Mozilla:
4886db39d3ebe883a2e6454381aa44d8

That shows that something is going wrong in it.
Now what is being done to it when downloading it etc... I have no clue on but it is changing for some reason. It isn't the file name changing since both are still .tgz files which they should be. BTW that md5sum was done in cygwin.

What about file sizes?

I suspect this is an issue with your setup somehow: a lot of other people are using Mozilla without any issues. Did you try to download with all extensions disabled?

IE (845 KB (866,146 bytes))
MZ (845 KB (866,006 bytes))

Not sure on how to change the extensions etc.... and quite a few do have the issue lol. Never had this issue before the last mozilla update which is why it is kind of a funny thing lol.
