Heya all

Quick question, I have loaded an area into play, but would like to change some of the attributes that it had origionally.

So I go to the mob, add the proto flag, and edit it.

after I edit it, i remove the proto flag, and save.

purge room, and when the mob repops, it has the proto flag again?

What am I doing wrong?

THanks
Kilroy

Which method are you using to edit it? Could be a bug in whichever system you used. Or, you could have saved it wrong. Did you use savearea or foldarea? In play areas need to use foldarea to make changes stick, but because you said you changed the proto flag back off, it makes me think something in the code isn't working like it should since that shouldn't have loaded on him when it repopped.

That's what I was thinking, since all you should have to do is take the flag off of him to un-proto a mob, foldarea shouldn't be an issue. Although if it was actually proto, it shouldn't have been brought into existence in that fashion. But foldarea is the only way to make everything stick on an already loaded area, savearea if the area itself is still proto. If the area itself is still proto it shouldn't be repop'ing anything anyway, so ignore that I've edited many mobs "on the fly" just to copy them over and hotboot... it goes like this:

mset (vnum) on
flags proto
[random editing]
flags proto
done
foldarea (areaname.are)
copyzone (areaname.are)

That's all there is to it, and it works every time ;)

Anyway, let us know when you find out more or if any of this helps.

Cam & Sam

Thank you both very much for your input, I was trying savearea instead of foldarea.

THanks again .
