Ive played muds for 7 years now, and have been loyal to the muds ive played, now i want to try my hand at my own mud, i have the server all the information is comming in via email from xanet web hosting and im already lost i dont know what i need or how to do it any advice on what i need to get started would be appreciated greatly and if anyone here wants to help out with the mud all positions for imms are open.

First of all, I suggest figuring out what genre your mud will be. i.e. Midevil, Star Wars, Anime based...ect. After you figure that out, then you should be able to narrow down the codebases that you would want to use. Then you can check them out and go from there.

the theme of my mud is based off of my favorite cartoon, avatare the last air bender, and i have a good bit of things planned outlike classes skills a player owned clan system, and some other nice features, and i now have a host just awaiting the ip and port numbers. thanks tho for the advice i am going to be thinknig of more things to implement, and smaug seems to be the best choice for this type of mud

I'm not sure what you mean. If you have a host, then you already should have the IP address and port, namely the ones the host gave you.

While this is a good thing to do, there is something you need to do first: you need to be in a position to implement your ideas in the first place. That means either learning to do it yourself, or getting somebody else to agree to do it for you. Both are difficult but in different ways. :wink: The trick is to start slowly and build up, even if you don't make as much progress initially as you hoped.
