We want to change our mud over from just a gold currency system to the 4-money currency system (plat silver gold and copper). I've seen references to a snippet that will do this, but cannot find it anywhere. The original webpage doesn't seem to exist either. Can anyone point me to where I can obtain it?

Thanks.

Well, the DOTDII codebase has such functionality within it, thus you might be able to port that code. Though, I have heard that this is no simple task. ;)

The other option is to try Druid's money snippet, which (and this is stated on the page... I've never actually tried it myself) is 'very buggy.'

Hope it helps.

Sadiq wrote a snippet that converts the money system into gold, silver and copper. You could take a look at it and add in platinum. If you want I can email it to you...

How many other snippets of his do you happen to have available? Vast majority of them were lost when his site went down. I only had a couple of them on mine at the time it happened, and the files weren't "waybacked" with the rest of his stuff when I dug up his bugfix lists. Would like to be able to post them up somewhere again :)

I have most, if not all, of the snippets from his site. Want me to zip it up and email it to you? Or would you rather me post a direct link to it?

EDIT: Happy Birthday Samson B)

Will need to send it via direct link. My email is rather locked down these days and that makes it all but impossible to receive stuff at random :)

Oh, and thanks :)

Damn the spam!

You can pick it up here. Thought I had more, will look around and see if I can find more of them.

Click..... here.

On a side note, I'm looking for a few things myself. Trying to get my grubby little hand on some of the Lost Prophecy stuff. Basicly any of it.

Thanks for the responses. I'd been looking for Sadiq's, since I found references to his snippet all over the place, but no actual snippet. His page is also gone. I downloaded the snippet tar.gz, if you don't mind, so thanks. :D I'd looked at a few codes and snippets to see if I could get a feel for it, but thought the snippet might help me get a better start.

Thank you!

BTW, the money snippet doesn't seem to be there. Do you have it some place else?

Lost Prophecy.... that would be Aurora's stuff, yes? If that's the case I have all of her old stuff archived. I had a sinking feeling it would one day become unavailable, so I downloaded it all and kept it safe :)

If that's the case, then I should be able to toss up a page with her stuff on it.

Sorry about that. Zipped it all up and double checked this time. Should be there. Pick it up here: Here <----

If you wouldn't mind doing that, I'd appreciate it. I had it all at one point, then cleaned up and deleted some of it. Yes, Aurora. She was pretty cool when I knew her.

That last problem that I was aware of, was the fact that I forgot to check overflowing int's  and I'm sure there are quiet a number of problems with it that just haven't surfaced..

Alrighty then. I'll hack up something quick and dirty - or wait.... why not use the templates that Orion has already provided me :)

Should be able to have something up shortly :)

Edit:

Shortly has come! Added a section to the AFK downloads area for Sadiq and Aurora.

I've also archived the files LrdElder has on his page in the event those ever go down since they're hosted at Geocities and he hasn't touched it in eons. So if his page ceases to be I'll have those files as well.

Since you're going to start archiving snippets, I've collected almost every single one mentioned on the SML, various boards and on search engins. Even went through the many code & snippet links on TMC. If you need any, just throw me a line.

Should start just one big archive instead of spread all over the 'net...

I have no problem with collecting them all in one place, but keep in mind that I won't actually be posting any of them unless the author's original site disappears. I don't want to get into a problem situation with posting things that someone doesn't want posted elsewhere. Only after they're gone will I consider adding them to the site. This of course hasn't stopped me from running around regularly and archiving things in directories for safe keeping later on :)

Exactly! It's what I've been doing. I have a small problem of collecting things that might come in useful later on. I even have a backup on a cd for some reason....

Yes, would not want to cause problems with anyone until they end up in the void. :P

Thanks for posting all of the snippets. I got the money code in and working (I'm so proud of myself!). Thank you all very much. :D
