Well. From the sound of things I may not need an introduction....
Samson. No. Not biblical either. So don't start
I've been in mudding for 11 years now. My how time flies.
Started out on a little out of the way place called Crystal Shard. Worked my way up to a "famous" player there. Was quite well known as the guy to go to for maps and exploratory information. Eventually led to formation of The Cartographers' Guild. The guild became quite large and we made a very healthy living ( in game ) by selling IRL maps of the mud to other players for gold, items, whatever. Got ourselves the one and only guildhall on the mud even. Eventually became an immortal and built them a number of areas. Then the place suffered a political collapse, which sucked.
Opened up Alsherok in 1997, originally under the name Lands of Solan. The place grew rapidly and had itself quite a run in its day. The mud eventually trailed off and the rest, as they say, is history
Currently my projects include:
Alsherok - Yes. We do still work on it. Rarely now, but it's still got a pulse.
AFKMud - The codebase which sprang from years worth of development on Alsherok. Not terribly popular yet despite being on the forefront of Smaug development.
The FUSS Project - A shared community project where all of the bugs in Smaug, SWR, and SWFOTE will be crushed utterly. Some day. It's rather amazing just how many keep showing up after what? 9 years?
MudBytes - A community code repository, mud listing, discussion site, and generally cool place to hang out. Or so we hope
Brought about by the desire to offer a resource center that wasn't tainted by the political ambitions of people like Kyndig.
Quicksilver Forums - A fork of the Mercuryboard project. Damn fine forum software. Very clean code, beats the crap out of pretty much any forum package you'll find. Advanced enough to hold its own against the competition.
QSF Portal - Well, you're looking at it. Basically taking Quicksilver Forums to the next level and providing a foundation for community sites. Though I may be crazy I'm hoping it will eventually rise to compete with the big boys if there's enough interest.
Arthmoor Internet Services - A small hosting company I operate for the benefit of the community. I'm pretty flexible with what folks can use there
MUD Planet - Another community resource site I help run. Even though it's more or less on autopilot right now since Orion isn't around much. It gets the least of my attention.
IMC2 - I'm the lead developer for the code, and a server administrator for the Mud Domain IMC2 Network. Code is pretty much stable, so it doesn't require alot of attention. The network practically runs itself. A vastly underutilized resource for mud admins though, which is sad.
Well, ok. So I sound like a bit of a walking advertisement here. I'm also quite active in several other areas of the community. Mostly as a lurker. But occasionally I do get myself into some controversy. But I'm sure you figured that part out by now.
I usually don't shy away from expressing my opinions as I'm sure people will attest. No doubt this is how I've become a "personality" as Conner put it
Anyway. That's pretty much me in a nutshell.
