Bug: The bug function is susceptible to infinite looping
Danger: High - Corrupted files will often cause the mud to loop and rapidly fill up drive space

---

db.c, bug

Locate:
         for( iLine = 0; ftell( fpArea ) < iChar; iLine++ )
         {
            while( getc( fpArea ) != '\n' )
               ;
         }

Change to:
         for( iLine = 0; ftell( fpArea ) < iChar; iLine++ )
         {
            int letter;

            while( ( letter = getc( fpArea ) ) && letter != EOF && letter != '\n' )
               ;
         }

The bug function had no safeguard against reaching the end of a file and could itself become a cause of a serious problem if a file is corrupted. This most often happens with pfiles that get written short for whatever reason. If this scenario is not caught quickly, the drive quota allocated to an account can be quickly overrun by repeated log messages. If the account has no quota, it can easily fill up the entire drive in a matter of minutes.
