I get the following errors while trying to compile on an AMD Athlon64 processor running Ubuntu 7.10
/usr/bin/ld: i386 architecture of input file `o/hashstr.o' is incompatible with i386:x86-64 output
/usr/bin/ld: i386 architecture of input file `o/md5.o' is incompatible with i386:x86-64 output
/usr/bin/ld: i386 architecture of input file `o/sha256.o' is incompatible with i386:x86-64 output

What do I need to do to resolve these?

I've never seen an error like that before, and what's been coming up on Google isn't making much sense either. Have you tried a clean make?

I could have sworn that I had done a make clean, but it (now) appears that I didn't. It compiled cleanly with a clean make.
