I found something odd in the run snippet.

If a player is say running west (5 times) and 2 times west (meaning they still have 3 rooms to go for running), they enter a room with an aggro (or mob that is hunting them) and the mob attacks them... They'll be hit for 1 round but then continue running. Shouldn't the player stop running since they are caught in a fight?

Yes, they probably should. But either way the hostile is going to be interested in a chase so the person is going to get into a fight one way or another :)

That's true, but the mob will never catch up if the player keeps using run, right? Also if the mob is sentinel (such as the mob is guarding something and you can't get past it until you kill it) you can run right past it.
