I was wondering how hard it would be to make AFK Mud work on windows again?

What do you mean "again"? The code compiles and runs using Cygwin just fine.

Sorry for not clarifying, what I meant was the WIN32 compiler things you removed, I believe they enabled the SMAUG code to be compiled with visual c++. I was wondering how hard it would be to make the code work without cygwin on a windows machine...

Hope this clarified things for ya Sam

I suppose that would depend on exactly what's needed. Since I don't have VC++ and don't intend to obtain it, the only advice I can offer would be to look at a copy of Smaug FUSS and see where the WIN32 information is used and find out if that will be enough.
