Version 1.62 of AFKMud has been released.

This is a bugfix/feature enhancement release.
A patch file exits in the download area.

To apply: place the patch file in your afkmud directory and use the following:
patch -p1 < 162patch

Standard disclaimer type stuff: Changes in this version may or may not remain compatible with your
older support files, such as areas, commands, skills, socials, etc. If things break, you were warned.

New stuff this release:

All Intermud-3 changes through 2.40 included. [Samson]
Zarius' new do_config function replaces the original. [Zarius]
Added Xorith's random ANSI color tag. [Xorith]
Added an fread_long function to properly load long integers. [Samson]
strrep and strrepa ported from SWFotE for string replacements. [Xorith]

Bugfixes this release:

Eliminated those nasty syntax_message: labels in ban.c [Samson]
New players were not having colors reset properly at creation. [Samson]
Buffer limit on show_file changed to MSL-4 to avoid overflows. [Samson]
Hotboot will now unlink invalid room files left behind. [Samson]
Hotboot resets alarm timer to 0 before executing. [Samson]
Integer overflow error fixed in furniture section of olcobj.c [Samson]
mod_con was missing in polymorph data. [Mateo2303]
Morph movement was being loaded into the wrong variable. [Mateo2303]
Log spam relating to boards at PC login has been fixed. [Samson]

Non-Bugfix alterations:

Base source revision changed to 1.4a [Samson]
( Past records indicated we did a full swap vs a partial upgrade )
NOCRYPT option removed from Makefile. All modern OS's have crypt() now. [Samson]
New area data creation consolidated to create_area function. [Samson]
Area sort lists by name and vnum brought back. [Samson]
do_reply rewritten to be far less redundant. [Xorith]
do_ansi command removed. ANSI is configured via the config command. [Samson]
obj_short function moved to build.c [Samson]
Admins can now set ranks on whoever they please. [Samson]
Added some new background color translations. [Samson]
'redit exit' will create a new room if the target vnum is empty. [Xorith]
Typo, bug, and idea commands consolidated to reduce redundancy. [Xorith]
Channel, say, and tell histories using mini_ctime for timestamp. [Xorith]
Several uses of set_char_color removed in favor of Quixa's color tags. [Samson]
Channels can now be custom colored using the color name tags. [Samson]
do_guilds function removed. Was redundant. do_orders renamed. [Samson]
Automated raising of I3/IMC2 imm permissions has been removed. [Samson]
I3/IMC2/Web sockets will show up on users display. [Samson]
send_ansi_title and send_ascii_title functions removed. [Samson]
Login status checks consolidated to one function. [Samson]
load_buildlist trimmed down to handle proto zones better. [Samson]
log_string_plus records current time to logs for more accurate reporting. [Samson]
delete_room now purges resets and exits from adjoining rooms. [Samson]
More deity options have been added. [Adjani]
Deity files now save many things as text for easier editing. [Adjani]
Consolidated memory handling in new_auth.c for easier cleanup. [Samson]
Overland sector array declared as unsigned char to attempt to save memory. [Samson]
Overland map files now loaded as bmp images. [Eos]

Non-Code related changes:

All I3 related helps moved to the new i3.help file. [Samson]

This patch will seem more intimidating than it really is since it modifies the copyright headers in every source file. So don't panic when you realize how big it is

As an aside, in accordance with the newly relicensed IMC2 AntiFreeze MD-1 code, I have decided to once more integrate IMC2 support direcly into the codebase. The LGPL license legally allows distribution of code licensed under it with other code that carries additional restrictions, such as the Diku license and it's restrictions on profit.

Let me make this perfectly clear now though: This does *NOT* mean you are allowed to charge for the use of AFKMud just because this code is included. All restrictions imposed by the Diku, Merc, Smaug, and AFKMud licenses still apply to the use of the codebase.

Also, this won't be patched in. The main distribution contains the code already installed an enabled. One need only configure it much like the I3 code. If you want AntiFreeze for AFKMud, grab it from the download pages and install it.
