In the following block..

from do_mount, skills.c
    check = mount_ego_check( ch, victim );    if( check > 5 )    {        act( AT_SKILL, "$N snarls and attacks!", ch, NULL, victim, TO_CHAR );        act( AT_SKILL, "As $n tries to mount $N, $N attacks $n!", ch, NULL, victim, TO_NOTVICT );        cmdf( ch, "kill %s", GET_NAME(ch) );        return;    }


note the cmdf line. shouldn't that be cmdf( victim, "kill %s", GET_NAME(ch) ); ?
Otherwise the player hits him/herself, rather than the NPC engaging in combat.
