Alright, well, I'm having a bit of trouble. I recently made the jump (transfered pretty much my old code modifications) to SWR 1.0 FUSS. Everything has gone smoothly and it is much more stable, however, not everyone (mainly everyone besides me) are getting ansi errors. If they have ansi turned on, then they can't see anything besides white text and their prompt. I have not modified the color codes in anyway at all. What would you suggest?

Nothing but white text? That would lead me to believe there's a bunch of color codes set to cause that. The color system doesn't change anything unless the text has been asked to do so.

Find a block of text you know is being turned white, like in score or something, and go through EVERY ch_printf, send_to_char, etc and look to be sure someone hasn't done something boneheaded like use &W as some sort of color changing tag. The old Smaug color system was whacked beyond belief in that regard.

Well, let me make my situation a bit more clear. Something like who displays fine on every char. However, if you say something nothing comes up, and its in dark blue color. However, if you did say &WHello there, they would recieve (in white text) hello there'. Its really weird, I've never seen it before. Also, I have not messed with the color stuff in ANY way at all on my mud. Any reason they might have messed up, or why the only show up on my level 105 immortal?

Can't say for sure. Perhaps this is the result of the code having been using buggy color support all this time and the authors coming up with some creative work-around for it that I'm just not aware of.

Fixing bugs of this nature often leads to exposing improper usage of things. Much like it did when similar fixes were done with the IMC2 color system.

It could also be that your client doesn't display the color the code used for the say command properly. It shouldn't be the deep midnight blue color, it should be a much brighter version. Could you take a screenshot of the output of the color command? Perhaps that might shed some light.

It could also be that the default color for SAYs are black or too dark to see. Change the background on your client and see.

I think I found it. I was wondering why my immortal had it and the other didn't. It must be a problem with saving the colors to the pfile. I went into my 105 and looked at max colors (97), which is just fine. However, below it it had all the normal colors. Then I went into one of my immortals, level 101, and he has max colors 97, again, fine. However, the big difference here is that instead of having a long string of numbers, ALL of his were 0. I'm thinking this is most likely the problem. Here are some copy and pastes:

Immortal level 101:
MaxColors 97
Colors 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 $

Immortal level 105:
MaxColors 97
Colors 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 25 7 7 12 10 14 15 7 7 11 7 $

Is it a saving problem do you think? How do I get it to reset a characters colors?

With Greven's help we figured out that it was because the nanny function was missing the reset_color call it was supposed to have. Fixed now and works perfectly. Thanks!

So the FUSS packages are missing the initial reset_colors call? Ugh. I'll have to make sure that gets taken care of

Well, it might have just been mine, though I was pretty sure I downloaded it off thise site. Not quite sure though, you might not have to do anything
