I've made some changes to SmaugFUSS19. Now I have quite the peculiar bug.

After idling for 10mins or so... you stop receiving info from the mud. If you press enter, you disconnect.

Processes I have not changed is anything in db.c or update.c. The only thing I've edited in comm.c
is login prompts and display prompts.

Any advice on where I should look for this issue? I've already determined the idling mechanic is not causing it...

Also, the only bug message issued is Connection reset by peer, but I have determined that the client is not causing this.

Sounds like it's your modem/router closing the idle connection.

Not sure as I have the same issue with afkmud while ssh'ed into the vps containing the mud and telneting to localhost.

It does come back for me after a few minutes though. Just freezes for a bit.

The issue is, in a fresh install of SmaugFUSS, this issue does not exist.

Just looking for ideas before I start from scratch and slowly spoonfeed my changes back into the code until I find it... =/

It definitely sounds like Router/Modem issues. Set yourself up some kind of timer that goes off every 5-8 minutes that sends a save command, or a save and look command, or something just to keep the connection from idling to the point where the router/modem disconnects.

I don't see how it could be a router or modem issue when it doesn't happen when I login to other muds. Also, the owner logs in and has the same issues. I'm quite sure it's code-related, but just not sure where to start after ruling out the idling function.

Well, I apologize. After further troubleshooting, it looks like it might be an issue with the server we are using. Thanks for the insight. =)
