Pretty simple, SmaugFUSS, looking for the file that controls the color for the room name, desc, and exits... Mabye sum1 can point me at another link asides from gammon's

i could also use a crash course in assigning vnums, getting ahold of me via YIM is best for me...

In smaugfuss use the color command and you can set them how you want in the game and even set the theme to be the default color theme that it gives players when they log in. The files are in the smaugfuss/color directory.

assigning vnums is easy, been ages since I messed with it so not sure which way it is setup. But I would assume the commands are rassign, massign, oassign. If it got changed it might just be vassign. Type wizhelp/commands and also be sure to check out the helpfiles for the commands so you know what each does.

Thanks man, got it all [] now. prolly start looking for builders soon... I might need a coder, which reminds me, I wanna be an understudy if anyone has the free time... I plan on making a post of that elsewhere...

Something I have learned from coding, is try things out on your own. If you have problems post them here.
People here are really helpful and will guide you through it.
I started coding arond 6-7 years ago, and I am still a newbie. But thanks to the help of people here I have become alot better.

Well for starters i could use some information on how to add areas/remove areas, change the start rooms, creating new limbo rooms.. what rooms are actually required.

I know how to build everything from rooms to objs but i'm not a stable prog builder...

my list of todo is as what i've said before... i think i left out the complete revamping of the slist, i see the skills in slist but i don't know where they "hook" into the game... i'm not sure if i even need to change those...

I'm fluent in dos shell and linux shell, don't quite understand the extentions like "run <-x>?"


Little info about myself... My name is James, I don't work, I spend nearly all of my time at my computer... running smaugFUSS on winxp lots of ram soon to be dual hds.. dual core... dual monitors... and like i said, because i'm usally always at my computer the best way to contact me is my yim as previously stated...

Once again any help is muchly appreciated, and thank you for your time.. Enigma_EQ 72.174.4.157:4000 is a link to the game...

ps, nothing i do is set in stone, matter of fact i'd like to create a evolving mob, ie 1 stick is null, 2 sticks creates a spear, 1stick 1 stone creates an axe... I might add that if making the modern area as a side project seems like the best way to go as i have more of an imagination for fantasy... lions n tigers n bears...oh my!

Adding/removing areas, you just add the filename into area.lst

What do you mean by new limbo rooms? There's only meant to be 1 limbo room.

ok got it down to the basic areas, i noticed that room 100 and the other areas are for entering and recalling... how could i A, add a new zone and b edit those rooms to replace the recalling function

A. zone == area; so, however you add an area is how you add a zone--which was described above. While the two command show different things (zone for Staff and area for players), they refer to the same list.
B. You'll have to go into the genesis.c file in order to change the player start rooms, I believe, to go to the new area you made.

Adding a new zone; assign some vnums, savearea, then installarea. For recall, it'd have to be in the recall code. Maybe do_recall?

I don't know of a offline editor for FUSS.

ok now i'm having a real prob... Trying to just go through and rewrite all the desc's in the core zones, my redit desc editor is cutting the line of mid sentence... /f doesn't seem to fix this problem... is there a way i can expand the lines? btw i'm using ashavar's legacy client... I'll try with a smaug client to see if that fixs anything

if you look at spell_word_of_recall in magic.c you'll see that it just refers to do_recall in skills.c. So, you'll need to look into do_recall, and more than likely trace back the get_room_index to see what that tells ya.

Also, depending on your operating system, I highly recommend Notepad++ for each search functions within folders/text files. Since I'm not fluent in gdb and linux, this may be your most practical alternative unless you want to learn linux.

yeah, i know all the true name stuff and in fact i'm using a very powerfull editor from bloodshed called dev c++, very good prog with a built in compiler... I'll be back later today to check out some stuff. and if the asking of questions repeatedly doesn't bother the forum admin i just assmue keep posting them here... but to avoid this i'd much rather add some people to my YIM firends list. which once again is D_ozone@yahoo.com

It's better to still post here, because if you take it to IMs other people who could have the same questions in the future won't be able to find the answers.

and how do i remove vnums, like i assigned me 25000 to 26000 and i want to remove the assignment
