I am running a SW FotE 2.1.4 from Keb's old site, http://swfote.sourceforge.net/ and I was wondering if it was possible to take what I have in my Fote and convert it to a Fuss? I don't have IMMENSE coding done on the Fote, but I am without a coder for now, until I can learn myself. I have a LOT of contributions from some very respected coders, and telented, too. My skill level consists of replacing misspelled words, updating prototype ships, and occasionally removing some ifchecks for NPC, etc. Very little things. I have taken C Programming class, but it seems to have only ungarbled the goop a bit, lol.

Anyhow, until I can find someone to teach me how to take my limited C training and become a world-class coder, I'm interested in converting what I have in Fote to Fuss. Thanks, and sorry it's such a new-guy question. I'm known for those :D

As long as you're careful, it shouldn't be all that hard to take what you have and make it work in FotEFUSS. Some things will be different though, for instance the DNS Resolver code, and the area file formats, but anything you have issues with, you can ask about on here, and someone can help you sort it out. :)

I'm slowly working on that exact same thing. What I can suggest is take one thing that you have added to your game and just follow it though. Research where all the functions are, where it calls its data from then start. Ya know the usual mud.h, space.c, ships.c, tech.c - for items dealing with spacecraft. Having ripped most bug fixes from FUSS to nonFUSS - back porting is cake! Just my issue is lack of dedicated time.

Also, don't worry about the newbie questions. Just look at me on here
Kayle and the rest of the team are great people.

Thanks! I'll do all that! I have the same problem. I am in Afghanistan at present. My other problem is a restricted knowledge of coding. I have a class on C and have read 2 books on C++, but the programs I have made in class are nothing like a MUD's source. I think it'll just take time looking through it. Last night I spend hours modifying commands and such, so I answered a lot of my questions. And grep is awesome, too, haha!

Thanks again!
