I play my MUD on my local network (127.0.0.1). Was wondering if other players can jump in through TCP/IP in some form or fashion and play along with me in some form or fashion. Any help on the subject would be great.

You need to make the server accessible to the outside world. To do so, you need:

- to know your public IP (try http://www.whatismyip.com)
- to configure your server's and/or router's firewall to accept connections on the appropriate port
- perhaps configure your router to forward connections to your server

What if I use a cross-over cable for a computer to computer connection? I'm trying to allow access without an internet connection.

You mean that all other computers are on the local network as well?

Well, the other computer just needs to connect to your local network IP address; try ipconfig under Windows and ifconfig under Linux to see what your local network address is.
