Good day
tis your friendly bug again

This is an idea that My headbuilder (Stillwater) and I are interested in setting up.

Essentially a Quest, but the object of the quest is to become a vampire. obviously this will involve haveing the vampire race - which I did not see in the race selection , but I did see some Blood code - (i am guessing left from the origional smaug) So is the vampire code still inthere.
ie all the blood requirements and all that?

also the plan is to actually (and this goes along with vamps) is for the player to die (I mean vampires are undead - Right?)
so how will all that effect the code -and how much will need to be done.

But here is another kicker - obviously Vampires need blood to survive - hence they are player killers - and that is fairly easy to put in with a mpforce %n playerkiller yes
type prog.

but the rest is uncertain

Now I ask this now - even though it is still in idea format, and we dont even have 1 complete original area built yet, but we are getting there.

So any comments, suggestions, ideas and all that other stuff, would be greatly appreciated, and if any of this is not implemented/possible in the code as is, perhaps some "undead" code could be added to a future release.

Thank you for your time
And thank you once again for an awesome codebase

Kilroy

I'm not sure how much this will actually help, but...

Vampires in the original Smaug are a class, as I recall. With some associated skills and such. I know for a fact that 99% if not all of those skills were taken out long, long ago. To get them back, I'd recommend getting a stock Smaug 1.4a distro and checking out vampire.class for what you'll need (hell, just snag vampire.class, for all it matters), then dig around in skills.dat for the skills you'll need, and enter them via OLC (do direct copy/paste if you're feeling REALLY lucky. I'm hazy on skills.dat's internal workings...)

I think most of the vampire code still exists, but I'm not sure. Search our code/stock smaug for references to CLASS_VAMPIRE or vampire or something. If something shows up in stock Smaug that isn't in AFK, it probably needs adding.

As for the undead thing, you might be able to get away with just setting their race to undead. For all I know, stock Smaug does this already. (we took out vamps first thing, can you tell? )

Hope this helps.

And apparently (Talking to Samson atm) all the vamp code got ripped out a long time ago. Meaning that if you want em, it's all got to be ported over from stock 1.4a. Blood, vamps, everything.

Good luck.
