I know this isn't going to be much help to you, but I wouldn't want you to feel you were being completely ignored or anything.. Personally, other than SWR and SWFOTE having 'force' related powers for players and ships and planets available, I really still haven't looked at either of them enough to determine what the difference is between them and Smaug, let alone the various versions of them. What I can tell you is that you're _FAR_ better off using the latest FUSSed version of whichever of the three you decide to go with because at least then you'll be way ahead of the game in bug fixes, and to a lesser extent, added features and such too. (In case you couldn't already tell, I use a modified SmaugFUSS myself.)

The major thing that SWR 1.0, 2.0, and Fote all have in common is being derived from Smaug 1.02a. As I understand it, swr 2.0 is more generic as far as sci-fi and Star Wars. As a codebase it never really caught on from what I can tell. Swfote is more or less the result of one mud's modifications to the base code that they then released. It became quite popular obviously.

There is no FUSS version of swr 2.0 and there are no plans to do so. The base just never acheived enough usage to make the effort worthwhile. That wouldn't stop someone from doing the work on their own though. That's why all of the fixes are posted here.
