Someone told me there was a self destruct command in SWR so you could "destroy" a MUD with it? I highly doubt it, but if there is, was it removed from FUSS and how well known is it? I'm just wondering so I know its actually gone and won't get used anytime with my MUD any time soon.

Also, how do you deal with a problematic player that either uses different IPs, proxy, or his IP changes constantly, so ban is ineffective? Is there a way to ban something in his area that is static or something? Any help would be appreciate,d thanks.

By area, I mean the area in which he lives.

Highly unlikely such a backdoor would still exist after all the scrutiny the code has had.

As far as the type of player you're talking about wanting to ban, persistence in stopping them is all you have. If they are that intent on making trouble for you, there's not much you could do about it.

I had actually found, while trying to find a solution to such problems, a topic on a message board some time ago that had proposed a solution, but it was experimental and sketchy, so it never got off the ground. I never got around to seeing if I could do anything with it, but if anyone's interested at all, here's the link:

mudlab.org :: View Topic - Open proxy detection

I dunno if it's a feasible solution or not, but if someone would like to play around with it, there it is.
