swskills.c, do_bribe

Locate:
  if( victim->vip_flags == 0 )
  {
      send_to_char( "Diplomacy would be wasted on them.\n\r", ch );
      return;
  }


Below that, add:
  if( ch->gold < amount )
  {
      send_to_char( "You don't have that much money!\n\r", ch );
      return;
  }


This subtle but missing check will prevent people from bribing a mob and then killing it with another character to get all the gold the original player didn't actually have. The person actually doing this will receive no benefit since the skill also does not stop the person's gold from going negative. Of course like with most exploits, most people performing them are bright enough to use throwaway characters for this.
