Hey, Just wondering since others might have more exp with overland stuff then me.. Any one know of a good way to make overland be able to be turned on and off in the Makefile. Maybe if enough people think its a good idea Samson will do it and have it the next afkmud code I did a bit of it. The Makefile went ok and does fine if I have it using overland but if I have it not using overland then it has a ton of problems.

Lol, you never know.....
Perhaps one day I'll seek to do this, but don't count on it. Overland is much more deeply imbedded than the multiport functions were. If your goal is to conserve the disk space, you could just stop the map files from loading and make sure none of your areas ever use overland links. If it's the ram usage, well, your gonna be in for a world of hurt trying to disable it all

Not for any of thoose reason although I mainly just want it turned off so people that don't like it won't wine about it being there. Some people don't seem to like the overland code for some reason. *shrug* But thats cool I can just work on makeing it work the way I want it to. Thanks though

You talking about people as in individual players or as in other mud admins? I should think it would be fairly clear that if overland isn't something a mud admin wants, this codebase isn't a good choice for them. If they were truly determined enough to remove it, it could be done.

Of course, should you come up with the means to totally disable it via the Makefile, you could always send it in for inclusion in a future update
