I know nothing of mysql stuff here folks, so please take this into account
with your replys. I have never used it nor read up on it.

Header files generally come with the devel packages. So you probably need to install the mysql-devel package. Either way it's looking like the SQL support will have to ship disabled by default and only accessible to those who have the necessary components to make it work. Even without an official launch there's already a couple of reports about it :P

Can you spell out in lame man's terms what the difference would be?
I really don't understand what mysql would do for a mud in general.
But thats cause i have no exp with mysql. I just need to see if its a thing
I really want to go with out or jump on the wagon now as it comes by me...

My first guess would be that gd.h is #include'd in overland.cpp but not in your copy of C++ so it's having most of those errors because it can't find that file to include, but of course, you'd want to fix that before you try to address any of the others anyway in case it clears the rest up or at least reduces them to just a missed ) or a } or a ; *shrug*

Nice and where would that file be found if not on the server in question?
Sigh, I am at the point of saying to hell with this untill samson releases his official release and I hope all this stuff is resolved.

It's been mentioned already once. The gd.h file is part of the libgd-devel package. That's something you'll need to add. Though I get the feeling this is going to be one of the most ignored solutions of all time since people tend to forget you can search a forum.

As I stated, I have installed libgd dev
So maybe there are more libraries I am missing, and as I am sure there will be others using Ubuntu with this
system, I am hoping this isn't annoying you.

Oh, right. I think I goofed there. That should have simply been gd-devel

on the note of libgd being required, i'd recommend including that comment in the readme with the distro (incase its not already) that way when people read the readme, they will atleast get an idea of what they need, and if they don't read the readme, then they are fools :) and you can reserve the right to tell them that :)

You can ignore that last bit about imc.c, your compile is done and will work.

Ok guys, take a step back and breathe! There's no need to get hostile about it. The compiler errors don't have anything to do with the connection not going through. That will require that we check the server logs and see if something got out of whack.

However, it isn't a good idea to post passwords on a public board. Even though it may seem harmless we'd rather not provide the temptation. So I've edited out the passwords.
